Highway GPS Technician/Surveyor-(Travel required)

Border States Paving is seeking a Construction GPS Technician/Surveyor for Highway Construction. The technician will be an essential crew member for various aspects of the construction process for multiple projects in North Dakota and South Dakota.  This position requires extensive summer travel. Season typically April-Nov

Job Duties:

  • Set up and take down various types of site positioning and grade control equipment.
  • Care for and adequately use high precision measurement systems in a field setting.
  • Use field software designed for Heavy/Highway Construction projects.
  • Set line and grade stakes for various aspects of the construction process.
  • Work with Grading and Paving Crews extensively.
  • Travel and overnights for the season will be required.
  • Participate in safety meetings as required.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a field environment with inclement weather, extreme heat, dust, and noise.
  • Must be able to carry handheld measurement equipment weighing up to 15 lbs. and lift equipment cases and accessories weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and a typical 6-day work week.


Experience/Qualifications/Education

  • Basic surveying skills and understanding preferred.
  • High school diploma and secondary education degree in the Construction, Engineering, or Surveying field.
  • General knowledge and understanding of Heavy/Highway Construction projects.

Compensation:

Compensation package is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

$ 30.60 to $ 32.40 per hour plus up to $20.65 in Fringe Benefit(towards health ins premiums/pension)

Per Diem of $ 350.00 per week on travel

Company Vehicle

Must possess current valid driver's license and pass pre-employment drug testing and background check.
